Thoughts for the day...

Twitter just might be the most awesome communication tool on the Internet I've ever seen. It took me awhile to "get it", but for a year now I've found it very useful and fascinating, and it's so easy re junk - it's design simply excludes it.

Twitter, as far as I know is not Google related, however on that front the wonderful Gmail is sporting a new look and Google Earth 5.0 is out so we can apparently look at Mars, the oceans and do some time traveling, so I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for fishing! iMac, iFish....

New Apple MacBook White

Apple has just announced a new MacBook white. This new MacBook includes state of the art NVIDIA graphics, 2GB of RAM and the latest Intel Core Duo Processors ...more>>

Meanwhile our MacBook white model list was updated today. You'll find the model range a bit broader than what Apple's on-line store offers right now, and some savings can be made.

The pricing and specs.

I must say I've been wondering whether or not the trusty white MacBooks would be discontinued, so it's good to see the continuation, and with more choices, especially for those desiring a FireWire port

Mac OS X 10.5: Software Update stops responding during "Configuring installation"

As per a post I made a few days ago. For what its worth I always like to wait a few days to see how such a release goes world-wide, having a strong aversion to being at the bleeding edge!
Symptoms
When attempting to update software using Software Update in Mac OS X 10.5, the update process may stop responding while "Configuring installation" is visible in the update window.... more>>

Recovering from data loss

For years now it's always been a real effort to encourage and train folk in the techniques to backup data, while knowing that the greatest losses occur not from hardware failure, but from human error involving often just one file. So when Leopard [OSX 10.5] was released sometime ago it was it's Time Machine backup system that excited me and I've been learning to trust and promote it to make all our lives easier ever since.

A part of my plans for this site is to publish softwares I come across that define the computer experience in terms of time saved and ease of use - ways to lower stress! And Time Machine is going to feature!

So... at the end of a busy day today I was delighted to get this email...

At 7:04 PM +1300 18/12/08, Georgie Tolmay of Cabin Fever [graphic design for print and the web] wrote:

Just thought I'd tell you that I discovered the joys of Time Machine today.  Accidentally deleted a major job last week without realizing I did it.

Looked for it this morning and couldn't find the *%&(*^.   Cripes!  HELP!

Ah - but not to worry - just travel back in time, find the date of the accident and then get the file.

Awesome!
